BIRATNAGAR: 28 persons in judicial custody for alleged involvement in smuggling 3,800 kilogram gold and murdering co-conspirator Sanam Shakya, have been shifted to Eastern Regional Prison, Jhumka.
The District court took a decision to this effect citing lack of space at District Prison, Morang to house the accused.
Earlier, a single bench of Justice Narayan Prasad Sharma had ordered the 28 suspects including five suspended police officers to judicial custody.
Following the order, the accused were then taken to the district prison, however, lack of space forced the law enforcers to bring them back to District Police Office, Morang.
